Thank you for volunteering to become a foster for Dante’s Hope!
We are excited to welcome you to our team and look forward to sharing many foster experiences with you. This pamphlet is provided to help you during your foster time if you have any questions or emergencies, and to give you basic information on how our program works.
Dante’s Hope is strictly a volunteer organization with no paid employees. We do not have a building or facility, which is why fostering plays such a vital role in the rescue and placement of our pups.
While the pup is in your home and under your care, we provide for all necessary to ensure you and your foster are happy and secure. Please let us know what your needs are regarding food, puppy pads, etc. We also provide all medical care and a list of our associated veterinarians is attached for your review, along with our coordinators for questions and emergencies.
As a Dante’s Hope Foster, you may be asked to transport your pup to the vet for routine care and to adoption events each Saturday, held at the PetSmart in Siegen Marketplace. Should you be unable to make the event, always reach out to us and one of our volunteers may be able to stop by and pick up the morning of the event.
You are not required to stay, but of course you are welcome to if you wish! We ask that you have the pup there between 10:00 – 10:15 and be available to pick back up at 2:00 if not adopted. Should an adoption occur during this time, we will alert you so you will not need to make an unnecessary trip.
We do allow adoptions during the week and if you are comfortable doing so, we would like to coordinate meet and greets so the prospective adopter can see the pup. These meetings can occur at a mutual location that we can discuss at the time. We also like to ask that our foster’s be instrumental in the adoption of the foster pup and have input when practical on the application. If you are uncomfortable speaking with people, no worries – we can handle!!
It is very important to us that you and your foster pup are comfortable and that the fit into your daily lives is right. If at any time you feel you are unable to provide that level of comfort, or your animals are not happy, we will make arrangements to move the pup and find one that is more adaptable to your situation. Please do not hesitate to contact us should this occur – sometimes it just happens. We do ask that you keep in mind that we will need to locate another foster and it may take a day or 2. Again, we want this to be an enjoyable experience for you and your foster pup, so just let us know!

Our adoption fees are $300 for pups over 6 months of age and $350 for pups 6 months and under. Sometimes emergencies do occur – please make sure you have Kelly, Margaret or Ellie’s phone number to contact if an emergency does occur. Please never hesitate to contact no matter how late. We are always here for you!
